Ministry Approves Revenue Insurance Scheme to Protect Cardamom Farmers from Price Fluctuations and Yield Losses.
The Spices Board, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is responsible for the development, research, and marketing of cardamom and spices with export potential. It implements the Export Oriented Production and Export Development Promotion of Spices Scheme, offering subsidies to cardamom cultivators for quality planting, replanting, irrigation, and mechanization. Additionally, the Board supports infrastructure development in Spice Parks, technology upgrades, quality evaluation labs, and farmer training in Good Agricultural Practices. To address price fluctuations and productivity challenges, the Ministry has approved a Revenue Insurance scheme for Plantation Crops, including cardamom, to protect farmers from yield and price losses.
