India Forms National Trade Facilitation Committee Post-WTO Agreement; Aims to Streamline Trade Processes Nationwide.
Following India's ratification of the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation in April 2016, the National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF) was established under the Cabinet Secretary's leadership. This inter-ministerial body aims to coordinate and implement the TFA provisions across India. The NCTF will develop a national trade facilitation roadmap and conduct outreach programs to educate stakeholders. It features a three-tier structure, including a national committee, a steering committee, and working groups. The national committee includes key department secretaries and trade association representatives, totaling 24 members, with the ability to include state representatives as needed.
