India Rises to 10th Place in Global FDI Rankings, Receives Record $55.46 Billion in 2015-16.
India's position in the global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow rankings has improved, rising to 10th place from 15th, according to the World Investment Report 2016 by UNCTAD. The report noted a 26% increase in FDI inflow, with India receiving a record US$ 55.46 billion during the 2015-16 financial year. India is also ranked 3rd among top prospective host economies for 2016-18. The government attributes this to a liberal FDI policy and favorable investment conditions, which enhance domestic growth by providing access to capital, technology, and global market integration.
