Andhra Pradesh has substantial debts to the World Bank (IBRD and IDA), while Bihar owes large amounts to both the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Karnataka and Tamil Nadu also have notable debts to these institutions. Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have significant debts to the World Bank and ADB, respectively. Other states like Gujarat, Kerala, and West Bengal also owe considerable amounts. The information was disclosed by a government official in response to a parliamentary question.
