Corporate Social Responsibility obligations: aggregate spending reported fell short of mandated levels in the first year of enforcement. Assessment of Corporate Social Responsibility obligations under the Companies Act compares actual CSR spending by 51 Public Sector Undertakings and 409 private sector companies (460 listed companies) with the mandated expenditure for the first year of statutory implementation, and notes that the statutory CSR provisions and Rules do not prescribe physical targets for companies.
