<h1>India and Uruguay Explore Economic Cooperation in Agro-Business, IT, and More to Boost Trade Ties.</h1> The Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry discussed enhancing economic cooperation with Uruguay's Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining. They identified potential growth areas in agro-business, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, automobiles, machinery, IT, and industrial technology. Despite low current trade volumes, both sides see significant opportunities to expand bilateral trade, particularly by increasing tariff lines in the India-MERCOSUR PTA. The Indian government has initiated the FOCUS: LAC program to support trade with Latin America, including Uruguay. In 2009-10, bilateral trade was valued at $64.37 million, with Indian exports comprising chemicals, electronics, and apparel, and imports including wool, wood, and leather.
