Shri Anand Sharma Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, while delivering the keynote address at the AIMA award function here today said that, “clean and green technology is the need of the hour and India is ready to play a defining role”. He further added that we are trying to be the workshop of these new technologies that the world will use. Speaking on the occasion, he said that there are three challenges that the world has to live with today: food, energy and technology. The recent global economic crisis has proved India’s resilience and inherent economic strength, he added. Shri Sharma informed that capital and information are two things that offer challenges and opportunities and we need to leverage these for the growth of our country. He also awarded the corporate leaders and social-entrepreneurs for their contribution in uplifting the standards of poor people and working at the grassroots levels. The Award function was organized by the All India Management Association (AIMA). Shri Sharma stated that we have sustained economic growth of 8-9% and we are working on to build India the manufacturing capital of the world so that more and more jobs can be created to use the global opportunities. He emphasized that global fulcrum of economic growth is shifting fast and we are ready for the challenges and opportunities. For India to play an important role it has to be the home of large number of significant business investments. He stressed that, “Today I feel proud about the strides taken by our corporate across the world. Many of our companies have grown globally and this has been achieved by leveraging the nation’s comparative advantage of information and knowledge society.” *******
