Government Proposes Dual Utilization of SEZ Facilities for SEZ and Domestic Tariff Area Entities Under SEZ Act, 2005.
The fiscal concessions and duty benefits provided to Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are embedded in the SEZ Act, 2005, and its rules, serving as export incentives aligned with government export promotion principles. The government regularly reviews and reforms SEZ policies based on stakeholder feedback. Currently, inter-ministerial consultations are underway to finalize a proposal allowing dual utilization of facilities in the Non-Processing Areas of SEZs by both SEZ and Domestic Tariff Area entities. This update was shared by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
