Passport Services Expand to Rural India via CSCs for Easier Access and Reduced Digital Divide.
The Ministry of External Affairs, in collaboration with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, is launching passport services through over 100,000 Common Services Centers (CSCs) in rural India. This initiative aims to reduce the digital divide by offering services like form filling, fee payment, and appointment scheduling for passport applications. Applicants will visit Passport Seva Kendras for final processing. The service will be available throughout the week and is set to pilot in 15 locations in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand by mid-March 2014, with nationwide rollout expected by the end of March 2014.
