Under the Pilot Projects Initiative, three (3) Department of Economic Affairs (DEA)-supported projects have been launched in the market, between the 26th February - 3rd March 2014, for the commencement of the PPP bid processes. These three projects include Mumbai Solid Waste Management Processing and Disposal Facility (Waste to Energy and Scientific Landfill) PPP Pilot Project, Lonavala 24 x 7 Water Supply PPP Pilot Project, Ichalkaranji Non Revenue Water Reduction and 100% Metering PPP Pilot Project. Approximate project costs for theaforesaid three (3) projects are around Rs 390 cores and government funds for the project are expected to leverage in a cumulative private sector funding of around Rs. 250 crores. Innovative structuring has been undertaken for each project and it is expected that the projects will provide model structures for replication in the respective sectors. Catalysing private sector funds as well as efficiencies in development of infrastructure is critical for the country, both for conservation of our natural resources, and for the provision of affordable and inclusive delivery of services to end users.
The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, supports the development of public private partnership (PPP) projects across the country with assistance for development of policy and guidelines, capacity building endeavours, project conceptualisation and structuring, risk appraisal, bid process management, and project viability funding. As part of this, DEA also supports the development of model or "Pilot" projects in challenging sectors such as water supply, urban transport, education amongst others.
Public private partnership pilot projects catalyse private investment and model replicable structures for infrastructure service delivery. The Department of Economic Affairs launched three public private partnership pilot projects across waste management and water sectors to commence PPP bid processes, using innovative structuring and targeted government support to act as model projects. Government funding aims to improve project bankability and leverage substantial private sector investment, while DEA provides policy guidance, capacity building, project conceptualisation and structuring, risk appraisal, bid process management, and project viability funding to facilitate replication and efficient service delivery.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
