The government remains committed to the Aadhaar initiative, having issued 57 crore unique numbers and aiming to open bank accounts for all Aadhaar holders to promote financial inclusion. Under the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme, Rs. 628 crore has been transferred through 54,20,114 transactions across 27 schemes, including the National Social Assistance Programme. Aadhaar is emphasized as a tool for empowering disadvantaged groups such as the poor, migrant workers, and the homeless.
