<h1>Indian Leather Sector Boosted with Rs. 990.36 Crore for Development, Training, and Infrastructure under 12th Plan.</h1> An allocation of Rs. 990.36 crore has been designated for the Indian Leather Development Programme (ILDP) during the 12th Plan period to enhance the leather sector. Key sub-schemes include the Integrated Development of Leather Sector for modernizing manufacturing units, Support to Artisan for promoting traditional clusters, and Human Resource Development for workforce training. Institutional facilities will be expanded with new branches of FDDI, while environmental initiatives focus on compliance and waste management. The Mega Leather Cluster sub-scheme aims to provide infrastructure support, with graded government assistance based on land area. The announcement was made in the Lok Sabha.
