Section 80 DDB Deduction by Employer

Siraj Shaikh

In my earlier employment, deduction under 80DDB was allowed against the production of certificate in Form 10-I. But, no where in Section 80DDB or Rule 11DD, it is mentioned that dedcution can be allowed by employer.

Can someone advice me about the allow ability of deduction by EMPLOYER in the light of the relevant laws.

Employers Cannot Allow Section 80DDB Deductions Without Form 10-I, But Submitting Medical Bills May Help A participant in a discussion forum raised a question about the eligibility of employers to allow deductions under Section 80DDB of the Income Tax Act, referencing the requirement of a certificate in Form 10-I. A Chartered Accountant clarified that, according to the Board's circular on Section 192, employers cannot allow this deduction. However, the original poster mentioned that their employer agreed to provide the deduction if all medical bills were submitted. The Chartered Accountant responded positively to this arrangement.
