Limit of LTA

Satishkumar Shriyan

What is the limit of LTA a salaried employee  can claim in a year . Is it a percentile of the basic or fixed to be availed twice in a block of 4 years.

Leave Travel Allowance entitlement questioned: whether claim limits follow basic-linked, fixed cap, or actual travel costs. Leave Travel Allowance is claimable against travel costs and may be availed twice in a block of four years, with common distinctions between Home Town LTC and All India LTC. The central question posed is whether the yearly claimable amount is linked to a percentage of basic salary, limited by a fixed annual cap, or confined to actual travel expenditure incurred. LTA has to be availed twice in a block of 4 years. Currently from 2010 - 2013 is the block year for claiming the LTA.

Yes, LTC can be availed twice in a 4 year block period, but one is for Home Town LTC and the other is for All INdia LTC.
