Excise compliance for free samples: raise excise invoice, record delivery challan, and do not levy VAT when no consideration.
When dispatching goods as samples, raise an excise invoice and pay excise duty if goods are excisable; prepare a delivery challan citing the excise invoice number. Treat samples as supplied without consideration and do not charge VAT. Issue a sample-series commercial invoice for accounting and post to the general ledger. Record LR number, date and carrier on the excise invoice, delivery challan and sample invoice, and follow state-specific road permit or challan rules. (AI Summary)

Dear Sir,

If we are going to bill some matl to customer what are the procedure against this.

1.

Dear Mr. Ranjan Das

The destination from where you are dispatching the goods are not mentioned. But normal procedure is like this :

1. If goods are excisable then raise excise invoice and pay the excise duty

2. Prepare the delivery challan and also mentioned excise Invoice number on DC

3. Do not charge the VAT - mentioned here goods removed as sample and no consideration

in cash / kind received or receivable also mention as " FREE SAMPLE hence no VAT is

   charge.

4. Prepare commercial invoice through sample series and posted to GL - Say NO

5. Mention LR No , Date , name of carrier on excise invoice , DC and Sample Invoice

6. Road permit or challan provisions as per your state rules

Thanks
