Installation certificate requirement: Chartered Engineer certificate not generally mandated but may be sought as evidentiary compliance.
Importers under the EPCG Scheme seeking excise installation certificates are not generally required to produce a Chartered Engineer certificate except for spares; however, officers often insist on such certification as third party evidence. Taxpayers should submit relevant departmental guidance to challenge unwarranted demands but may prudently obtain a Chartered Engineer certificate to expedite issuance and avoid administrative delay.
