WHAT IS THE RATE OF DVAT ON LIFT PURCHASED

DVAT rate on lifts: classified as residuary and subject to the default DVAT rate; seek Commissioner confirmation. Lifts not specified in any tax schedule are treated as part of the residuary list and attract the default DVAT rate; taxpayers are advised to obtain confirmation from the Commissioner of DVAT and may seek a formal clarification under the statutory clarification procedure on payment of the prescribed fee. If it is not mentioned in any Tax Schedule and it will by default fall under residuary list. Hence, lifts may attract DVAT @ 12.50%. Please also cross check from the Commissioner of DVAT. You may also get clarification from the Commissioner of DVAT on a payment of Rs. 500/-under Section 84 of the DVAT Act.
