Income from house property

Arun Chauhan

Good Evening all,

My Query is whether Rent not received but TDS deducted by the tenant on the rent receivable during the year need to be shown while computing Income tax under cash system of accounting in the hands of owner of the property? please suggest what has to be done in such type of case.

Should Rent with TDS Deducted but Unpaid Be Reported for Tax? Differing Opinions on Accounting Treatment A user inquired about whether rent not received but subject to TDS by a tenant should be reported under the cash system of accounting for income tax purposes. One response advised booking the income in the financial year when TDS was paid. Another suggested including the rent in the tax return despite non-receipt and recommended pursuing civil or criminal action to recover the rent from the tenant. (AI Summary)
