Manufacturer Not Required to Recover Foreign Exchange in Merchant Exports Under GST-Merchant Exporter Responsible A query was raised regarding the recovery of foreign remittance by a manufacturer when goods are exported through a merchant exporter. The question asked if it is mandatory for the manufacturer to recover foreign exchange and the procedure involved, including the impact on GST and applicable rates. The responses clarified that under GST, it is the responsibility of the merchant exporter, not the manufacturer, to receive foreign exchange. All respondents agreed with this interpretation.
