GST RETURNS

Filing nil GST returns is required before surrender; late fees and missed returns block subsequent filings and increase penalties.
A registered GST taxpayer with no transactions must file nil returns and pay applicable late filing fees; only after completing required nil returns and settling late fees may the taxpayer surrender the registration and seek cancellation online via the Common Portal. Failure to file interrupts the return sequence and prevents filing subsequent returns, causing cascading penalties. (AI Summary)

Sir I have taken GST no on last April. But I haven't done any purchase and sale.I have not filled any return also. Presently What I want to do

You will have to file all 'NIL' returns with late fee. Thereafter, you can surrender Registration Certificate and get the same cancelled. For cancellation you can apply online on Common Portal System.

You have to fill return if you have taken GST no or surrender it and before surrender it you have to fill nil return and also have to pay late fee as well.

If you don't file any GST return then subsequent returns cannot be filed. For example, if GSTR-2 return of August is not filed then the next return GSTR-3 and subsequent returns of September cannot be filed. Hence, late filing of GST return will have a cascading effect leading to heavy fines and penalty.
