Income tax on remittance: remittances from earnings while resident abroad in a tax-free jurisdiction are not treated as taxable on transfer.
The contributor, an NRI who worked in a tax-free foreign jurisdiction and returned to India in June 2017, asked whether remittances from April-June 2017 are taxable in India. The forum reply stated that no Indian income tax is attracted on those remittances, treating funds remitted from earnings abroad in a tax-free jurisdiction as not taxable upon transfer to India. (AI Summary)

Hi, e

I was gulf NRI FOR the past few years. Returned back from gulf on June 2017. There is no income tax in Qatar.

Remittance made by me from April 2017 to June 2017 will be counted as income while filing the return.

Please let me know

Regards

Vivekvk
