Service Tax Applicability on Construction of Educational Buildings for Charity Under Section 12A: Exemption Uncertain An individual inquired about the applicability of service tax on the construction of two educational buildings for a charity registered under section 12A. The first response highlighted a mega exemption notification, suggesting that certain constructions might be exempt if they are for religious use. Another participant referenced a different notification, noting that auxiliary educational services are no longer exempt, and construction for educational purposes is not specified in the updated exemption list. Two other contributors agreed with this interpretation, indicating that service tax might apply in this context. (AI Summary)
