Ex.duty Drawback on Local material

Srivatsan Krishnamachari

Dear Experts,

Kindly clarify my query : We have exports to South African countries. Exporting under LUT. We procure material locally and pay excise for the related material . Can we go for Draw back of Excise duty proportionately paid on the material which we have procured locally?, Please provide necessary details. And also, wish to know,is there any free trade agreement between South African & India, if so, please provide details.

Thanking you,

Srinivas

Duty drawback entitlement for exports under LUT may include excise on locally procured materials where AIR drawback applies. Whether exports under a Letter of Undertaking qualify for drawback of excise paid on locally procured inputs is addressed by reference to the AIR Duty Drawback mechanism, which permits proportionate drawback of excise on domestic inputs used in exported goods, subject to applicable conditions and procedures. You may go for AIR Duty Drawback. There is no FTA between SA and India.
