Excise duty applicablility

SHINIL NAMBRATH

Dear Learned Members,

This is with respect to the captioned subject.

In this regard, please note we have recently incorporated an LLP which is in the business of manufacturing control panel which is used in various machinery and we are yet to start to any business/manufacturing.

Hence, I want to know when should I need to get register for excise duty. Are there any threshold limit for it.

Further my vendor is asking for excise duty registration no or exemption certificate from excise duty payable.

Hence, I request you all to please kindly help to solve my problem.

Excise Duty Registration Not Required for LLPs' Initial Clearances; Apply When Reaching INR 90 Lakhs Threshold An individual inquired about the necessity of excise duty registration for a newly formed LLP in the manufacturing sector. Respondents clarified that excise registration is not required for initial clearances up to INR 150 lakhs within a financial year. However, registration is optional, allowing for the collection of CENVAT credit. If opting for exemption, a certificate from the Jurisdictional Range Superintendent can be obtained. It was advised to apply for registration upon reaching INR 90 lakhs in clearances. The discussion emphasized considering the threshold limit and the implications for SSI units. The query was resolved with gratitude expressed by the inquirer. (AI Summary)
