Authentication by digital signature

Guest

Dear Sir,

As per amended provision of Central excise rules 2015, regarding digital authentication is it mandatory or Hand written signature is ok. Further digital authentication means and please explain this statement which as follows:

If the

excise invoice is digitally authenticated, then a signed copy of the

duplicate copy of Excise invoice meant for transportation of goods and

self attested by the manufacturer shall be used for transportation.Pls expalin, thanks and regards.

Manufacturers can choose between digital authentication or handwritten signatures for excise invoices under amended Central Excise Rules 2015. A query was raised regarding the amended Central Excise Rules 2015, specifically about whether digital authentication of excise invoices is mandatory or if handwritten signatures are acceptable. A respondent clarified that Notification No. 8/2015-CE (NT) allows manufacturers to issue invoices either manually signed or digitally authenticated. The choice between the two methods lies with the manufacturer, as the amendment does not mandate digital signatures. Another participant thanked for the clarification, and a third reiterated that digital authentication is optional, not compulsory. (AI Summary)
