Clarification on Job Work Challan Requirement for Non-Excisable Goods: Stamping Suggested, Ordinary Challans Advised, VAT Compliance Needed A query was raised regarding the requirement of a job work challan for non-excisable goods. One respondent suggested that there is no need for a job work challan for non-excisable goods. Another recommended stamping the challan to indicate the goods are non-excisable and for job work. A third response advised using ordinary challans, and if the job work involves an interstate job worker, Form F and waybills might be necessary according to state VAT laws. (AI Summary)

Dear Sir,

as per my view, no need to follow the job work challan procedure in case the goods are non-excisable.

Mahir S on Feb 6, 2015

You may stamp it on the challan that the goods are non excisable and meant for job work purpose.

Dear Rohit,

Ordinary Challans may be used. If job work is being done by the job worker who is located at another State, then, Form F (CST Act) and waybills (as applicable under respective State VAT Act) may be applicable.
