Import of Second hand Capital goods under EPCG.

Srivatsan Krishnamachari

Dear Experts,

We want to import Second hand Capital goods under EPCG.

Please let me know the tax benifits and procedure.

If it is not against EPCG, What is the Procedure.

Thanks for your support.

Importing Second-Hand Capital Goods: Not Allowed Under EPCG but Possible Under Project Import Regulations 1986 with Conditions. An individual inquired about importing second-hand capital goods under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme, seeking information on tax benefits and procedures. An expert responded that importing second-hand capital goods is not permitted under the EPCG scheme, but it may be possible under the Project Import Regulations, 1986. Another expert added that such imports are allowed if duties are paid, provided the goods are not older than ten years, and a valuation by a chartered engineer at the port is conducted. (AI Summary)
