Dear Sir,

We are a mfg paints co, Sponsorship for a conference held whether it falls under sponsorship service and are we liable to pay service tax for the same.Pls Explain, Thanks and Regards.

Manufacturing Company Queries Service Tax on Sponsorship; Tax Depends on Sponsorship Type and Business Structure A manufacturing company inquired about the applicability of service tax on sponsorship for a conference. Respondents highlighted the need for clarity in the query. One pointed out that if the company provides sponsorship services, it must pay service tax, but if the conference is for its own business promotion, no tax is due. Another mentioned that if the company sponsors a conference, it may be liable for service tax under reverse charge, unless it is a proprietary or partnership firm. The importance of providing complete information for accurate responses was emphasized. (AI Summary)

Sir,

Your query is not clear. Who provides sponsorship service to whom? If you provide sponsorship service to another company then you are service provider and you have to pay service tax. If your company arranges a conference for promoting your business interest then the service is by you to yourself and no service tax is payable.

Please give a query clearly so that it can be answered. If you are giving any money towards sponsorship for a conference then you will be liable to pay service tax under reverse charge provided you are not a proprietary concern or a partnership firm.

Dear Sir,

Kindly post queries with enough facts. Queries with incomplete facts is nothing but waste of your time as well as of the persons who attempted to answer the query.
