Company Advised Against Consolidated ER-4 Return; Must File Separate Unit-Wise Financials to Meet Compliance and Audit Needs. A company manufacturing engineering products across eight different plants inquires about submitting a consolidated ER-4 return for all plants, as their accounting and balance sheet are centralized without individual plant data. The response advises against filing a consolidated ER-4, stating that the department would not accept it and recommending preparing separate unit-wise balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and trial balances to avoid future litigation and comply with audit requirements.
