Foreign Exchange Dealers Can Now Sell Up to USD 3,000 in Currency Notes to Travelers, Except for Specific Countries.
The circular informs authorized foreign exchange dealers and money changers about an increase in the limit for selling foreign currency notes and coins to travelers. The ceiling has been raised from USD 2,000 to USD 3,000 for travelers going to countries excluding Iraq, Libya, Iran, Russia, and other CIS countries, without needing prior Reserve Bank approval. For Iraq and Libya, the limit remains USD 5,000, while full foreign exchange can be released for Iran, Russia, and CIS countries. These changes are under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, and must be communicated to relevant customers.
