<h1>Customs to Provisionally Grant NOCs for Ship Breaking with Conditions; Awaiting Ship Breaking Code Amendments.</h1> The Ship Recycling Industries Association (SRIA) has highlighted delays in obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOC) for beaching vessels imported for breaking due to the slow generation of customs duty challans. As a temporary measure, customs authorities will provisionally grant NOCs if certain conditions are met, such as the filing of a Bill of Entry and proof of at least 20% customs duty credit in the Electronic Cash Ledger. Importers must also provide an undertaking to process the vessel only after paying applicable duties. This relaxation is until amendments to the Ship Breaking Code are made. Existing customs procedures remain unchanged.
