Customs extends undertaking option for importers to June 15, bond submission deadline now June 30 due to lockdown.
The Customs Department has extended the facility allowing importers and stakeholders to submit an undertaking instead of a bond for customs clearance due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Initially granted until May 30, 2020, this measure is now extended to June 15, 2020, with the submission deadline for the proper bond moved to June 30, 2020. This extension follows the government's decision to prolong the lockdown and acknowledges the time needed for normalization post-lockdown. The conditions from previous circulars remain unchanged, and stakeholders are advised to contact the Deputy/Assistant Commissioner for any issues.
