<h1>Changes to Courier Import/Export Regulations: Non-Mandatory Codes, Extended Exams Deadline, and New Authorization Rules.</h1> The public notice addresses the Courier Imports and Exports (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2010, highlighting modifications and clarifications. The mandatory Importer Exporter Code (IEC) for low-value consignments remains, but the IEC Branch Code and AD Code are now non-mandatory. Authorized couriers and their employees are granted an extended period until December 31, 2011, to pass necessary examinations under the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulations (CHALR), 2004, to handle customs-related work. Employees of authorized couriers are temporarily eligible to take these exams. Authorizations from consignees for certain low-value consignments are required at delivery, not clearance.
