of <h1>Chennai Port Updates Baggage Declaration Process: New Requirements for Faster Customs Clearance from Dec 26, 2011.</h1> The procedure for declaring unaccompanied baggage at Chennai Port under the Indian Customs EDI System has been updated to expedite clearance. Starting from December 26, 2011, passengers must file a revised Baggage Declaration Form at the Service Centre, which operates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on working days. After verifying and authorizing the form, passengers proceed to a Preventive Officer for baggage examination. If no special benefits apply, passengers receive a final declaration or payment challan and pay any duties at the Bank Counter. The Superintendent grants 'out of charge' after verifying payments, and the passenger can then collect their goods.
