Customs EDI Bills of Entry No Longer Need Officer Signatures After Out-of-Charge Process for Banks or CENVAT.
Importers, exporters, and customs house agents are informed that the duplicate and triplicate bills of entry, generated through the Customs EDI System after the out-of-charge process, do not require signatures from customs officials. Despite requests from importers and agents for signatures on these documents for bank remittance or CENVAT purposes, it is clarified that such signatures are not mandatory. Consequently, customs officers will no longer sign the out-of-charge bills of entry, as they are computer-generated and do not require manual authentication.
