of <h1>Biometric Smart Cards to Replace Magnetic Strip Customs Passes for Agents and Importers Starting May 2011.</h1> A new system of Biometric Smart Cards will replace the existing plastic-coated magnetic strip Customs passes for Custom House Agents (CHAs), their employees, and representatives of importers/exporters operating on a self-basis. These cards will contain digitally encoded information and require updates if details change. The transition will occur in phases, and all concerned parties must prepare to exchange their current passes for the new cards. Details of existing passes must be submitted by 25th May 2011. The cooperation of CHAs and associations is requested for this process, which will be communicated through respective associations.
