Importers Can Avoid Delays by Presenting Past Bills of Entry to Bypass Unnecessary NOC for Certain Drugs Under Drug & Cosmetics Act.
A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Assistant Drug Controller (ADC) is mandatory for importing drugs and bulk drugs under the Drug & Cosmetics Act, 1940. However, some items mistakenly referred to the ADC may not require an NOC, leading to potential delays. To streamline the process, importers or Customs House Agents (CHAs) can present past Bills of Entry with remarks indicating non-requirement of an NOC to avoid unnecessary assessments. This applies to both assessed and RMS facilitated Bills of Entry. Any difficulties in implementing these procedures should be reported to the Commissioner of Customs (Import).
