Tribunal Waives Pre-deposit in Duty Dispute Case

The Appellate Tribunal CESTAT, Ahmedabad waived the pre-deposit of balance duty and penalty in the case of Mrs. Archana Wadhwa v. Shri R.S. Sangia as Rs. 5 lakhs out of Rs. 22 lakhs had been paid. The duty denial due to fake invoices, akin to M/s. Bhagwati Silk Mills case, resulted in a remand for a fresh decision by the original authority. Stay petitions and appeals were disposed of accordingly.
