Rescue stations for below ground mines may be permitted or required by the Chief Inspector-cum-Facilitator, with design, specifications and location fixed as necessary in consultation with the employer. Common rescue stations may be required for mines of more than one employer, and existing rescue stations may continue for three years. Each rescue station must have a superintendent, at least two instructors, and a rescue brigade of not less than eighteen rescue-trained persons. A new superintendent must be appointed if the post remains vacant for more than sixty days, and changes in charge must be reported the same day.
