Liaison Office restrictions limit commercial activity and require funding by inward remittances under establishment regulations. Regulation 2 defines organisational forms: Liaison Office as a non commercial communication channel maintained from inward remittances and prohibited from commercial activity; Project Office as a representative for a foreign company executing a project in India; Site Office as a sub office at a project site; and Stand alone basis as confinement of branch activities to Special Economic Zones. It also defines 'Branch Office', 'Foreign company', 'Authorised Dealer', and adopts meanings from the Act for undefined terms.
