Provident fund exemption rules clarified to extend compliance deadlines and exempt notified establishments from certain scheme provisions.

Amendments to the Fourth Schedule change rule 3 by replacing the proviso cut-off date with a later date and adding a proviso excluding provident funds of establishments notified under the Employees' Provident Funds legislation from that first proviso; and replace rule 4's clause to require that qualifying funds be of establishments subject to certain Employees' Provident Funds provisions or of establishments notified under that legislation, and that such establishments obtain statutory exemption from operation of all or any scheme provisions.
