Vice Chairman acting as Chairman: temporary exercise of Chairman's functions until appointment or resumption, authorised by Central Government notification.
Where a vacancy occurs in the office of the Chairman by death, resignation or otherwise, the Vice Chairman, or such one of the Vice Chairmen as the Central Government may authorise by notification in the Official Gazette, shall act as Chairman until a new Chairman appointed under the Chapter enters upon office. When the Chairman is unable to discharge his functions owing to absence, illness or any other cause, the Vice Chairman, or such authorised Vice Chairman, shall discharge the functions of the Chairman until the Chairman resumes duties.
