of <h1>Finance Bill 2022 introduces Rs. 2/litre excise duty on unblended petrol and diesel to promote alternative fuel use.</h1> The Finance Bill, 2022, as part of the Budget 2022-23, introduces an additional Basic Excise Duty of Rs. 2 per litre on unblended petrol and diesel. This measure aims to encourage the blending of motor spirit with ethanol or methanol and high-speed diesel with biodiesel. The new excise duty rate will be effective from October 1, 2022, targeting retail sales of petrol and diesel that are not blended with these alternative fuels.
