Customs Tariff Section VI clarifies priority headings and classification rules for chemicals, medicines, mixed sets and measured-dose products
Section VI of the Customs Tariff First Schedule governs classification of products of the chemical or allied industries (Chapters 28-38). Goods described in headings 2844 or 2845 must be classified exclusively there; subject to this, goods of headings 2843, 2846 or 2852 are similarly confined. Goods falling under specified headings (including 3004-3006, 3303-3307, 3506, 3707, 3808) by reason of measured doses or retail packing must be classified in those headings only. Sets of complementary constituents intended to be mixed into a Section VI or VII product are classified under the final product's heading. Products described by name or function in Section VI prevail over heading 3827.
