of <h1>Central Government doubles service tax threshold to eight lakh rupees under amended Notification No. 6/2005, effective April 2007.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 6/2005-Service Tax, dated March 1, 2005, under the powers granted by the Finance Act, 1994. The amendments involve increasing the monetary threshold from 'four lakh rupees' to 'eight lakh rupees' in paragraphs 1, 2(viii), and 3 of the original notification. These changes are set to take effect on April 1, 2007.
