<h1>India Grants Duty Exemptions on Select Afghan Imports Under Customs Act 1962; Includes Fruits, Seeds, and Gemstones.</h1> The Central Government of India, under the Customs Act, 1962, has granted exemptions on specified goods imported from the Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan. The exemptions apply to goods such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios, figs, grapes, raisins, apples, apricots, pomegranates, dried fruits, seeds, and gemstones, among others. The extent of duty concessions ranges from 50% to 100%, depending on the item. Importers must prove the origin of goods to the satisfaction of customs authorities as per the Preferential Trade Agreement rules. The notification includes amendments and substitutions made over the years to the original list of goods and tariff items.
