of <h1>India Imposes 4% Additional Customs Duty on Imports Under Notification No. 19/2006, Superseded by No. 53/2017.</h1> Notification No. 19/2006-Customs, dated March 1, 2006, issued by the Central Government under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, imposes an additional customs duty of four percent ad valorem on all specified goods imported into India. This decision supersedes the previous notification No. 19/2005-Customs. The additional duty accounts for various taxes such as sales tax, value-added tax, and other local taxes applicable to similar goods within India. This measure is deemed necessary in the public interest. The notification was later superseded by Notification No. 53/2017, dated June 30, 2017.
