of <h1>Central Government Amends Central Excise Notifications: Raises Threshold, Alters Duty Rates, Adds Filament Yarn Provisions Under Central Excise Act, 1944.</h1> The Central Government has amended various Central Excise notifications under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, effective from March 1, 2005. Key amendments include: increasing the monetary threshold from three hundred lakhs to four hundred lakhs in notification 8/2003; changing the entry for S. No. 22 to '8%' in notification 10/2003; and inserting new provisions regarding filament yarns in notifications 29/2004 and 30/2004. These amendments address manufacturing processes for filament yarns and redefine certain exemptions.
