<h1>India Exempts Diplomatic Services from Service Tax; Conditions Apply per Finance Act, 1994, Effective July 1, 2012.</h1> The Government of India exempts taxable services for the official use of foreign diplomatic missions or consular posts, as well as for personal use by diplomatic agents, consular officers, or their families in India, from service tax under the Finance Act, 1994. This exemption is contingent upon conditions such as the issuance of a certificate by the Ministry of External Affairs' Protocol Division, the provision of an identification card, and the maintenance of detailed records. The exemption is subject to revocation if the certificate or identification card is withdrawn, effective from July 1, 2012.
