of <h1>India Exempts Goods from Education Cess on Import, Exemption Later Rescinded; Specific Electronics and Media Not Exempted</h1> The Government of India, through Notification No. 14/2012-Customs dated March 17, 2012, exempted all goods under the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from the Secondary and Higher Education Cess upon import into India. This exemption was granted under the powers of the Customs Act, 1962, and the Finance Act, 2007, in the public interest. However, this exemption does not apply to specific goods listed in the notification, including certain electronic items and media products. This exemption was later rescinded by Notification No. 09/2015, dated March 1, 2015.
